iLOQ history
The idea of developing an electric locking solution eliminating both, the limitations traditional master key locking systems as well as disadvantages and high maintenance costs of battery operated solutions was born by customer needs, which Mr. Mika Pukari saw when he was running a successful company in the security field. The company offered security system and locksmith services for fast growing ICT companies, hospitals, schools and other commercial customers using big master key systems with almost weekly rekeying needs. The customer requirement of granting a high security level for reasonable cost was impossible to meet because of technical limitations in the mechanical master key systems.
After selling the company to Falck Security Ltd Mr. Pukari and his team of experienced locking and security experts started in 2004 to investigate modern mechatronic, communication and software technologies. Target was to develop a solution eliminating limitations of traditional mechanical master key locking systems and enabling digital identification without need of external power sources. In cooperation with experienced partners and the local university the concept of the iLOQ S10 locking system has been created. After a couple of years intensive research and development work the iLOQ S10 system has been presented to the publicity during Finnsec 2007 exhibition in Helsinki.
The market feedback is and was tremendous. Production and installations started beginning of 2008. Major international security awards confirmed the revolutionary character of the solution introduced. In 2008 iLOQ won the IFSEC2008 Security Industry Award category “Physical Security Product of the Year” and the 9th Detektor International Award 2008 category “Access Control Product”. Both national and international growth of the partner network is under process.
